METALLICA's 'Death Magnetic' Arrives In UK Early?
September 10, 2008According to various online reports (including fan accounts on METALLICA's official message board),several UK retailers — including HMV and Zavvi — have begun selling METALLICA's new album, "Death Magnetic", ahead of its September 12 official worldwide release date — presumably in response to the fact that the album was leaked in its entirety last week. HMV, which currently owns over 50% of the music retail market in the UK, reportedly has the CD on sale for £9.99 (approximately $20).
METALLICA's official web site is currently streaming no less than six full songs from the band's forthcoming "Death Magnetic" album. The tracks, which were all premiered during last week's "Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic", hosted by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins and broadcast live from METALLICA's headquarters in San Rafael, California, are as follows:
* "The Day That Never Comes"
* "My Apocalypse"
* "Cyanide"
* "All Nightmare Long"
* "Broken, Beat & Scarred"
* "The Judas Kiss"
Several copies of "Death Magnetic" were sold early at a Paris record store on September 2, which led to the entire album being leaked online within hours.
Due on September 12, "Death Magnetic" will also be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock the same day that the record is released.
METALLICA will play two low-dough shows in Europe to celebrate the CD's release, in Berlin on September 12 and London on September 15. Tickets for both are priced under $20 and open to fan club members only.
The band will kick off its first indoor North American tour on October 21 in Glendale, Arizona, with shows booked through the end of January.
